Week Of the Young Child

April 13th - 19th, 2008

The National Week of the Young Child celebrated each year is a time for communities to come together to recognize the needs of young children and to thank the adults involved in their education and care.

Children, right from birth, need a strong foundation to grow and develop to their full potential.  Parents and early childhood professionals are children's first teachers.  They provide the early learning experiences that children need to be successful in school and throughout life.  But they can't do it alone.

Since 1975 Child Care Solutions has been in the forefront, providing information, training and resources for Onondaga County parents and early childhood professionals.  In conjunction with the 2008 Week of the Young Child, Child Care Solutions is launching a new initiative, the First Teachers Scholarship Fund, to provide even more support for those who are so critical in the lives of young children.

The First Teachers Scholarship Fund is a program benefiting parents and early childhood professionals.  It will help individuals with few resources to participate in workshops and classes designed to enhance their understanding of child development and their ability to foster early learning.

Your contributions matter:

  • $35 will purchase a parent resource manual for our EPIC parenting course

  • $40 will pay for a CPR & First Aid class or a 5-hour class on developmentally appropriate practice for a child care center teacher or family child care provider

  • $110 will pay for one parenting class for 15 parents

  • $500 will enable a local teacher or provider to earn the 4.5 CEUs required to renew her Child Development Associate Credential

Please join me in making a donation to the First Teachers Scholarship Fund.  With a gift of any size, you can help Child Care Solutions do what they do best - supporting and preparing parents and early childhood professionals to make a positive difference in young children's lives.

Sincerly,
